A Disclaimer

This policy is valid as from 12-June-2013

Just to make sure that everyone reading this blog and all of its contents understands my disclaimer, I’ve tried to write it down in my own, simple words. Make sure you read and understand the following:

1.   Terms of Use:

Firstly, thank you for reading my blog and checking out the graphics! However, reading my blog and using or following up on my ideas, tips and advice should be your own choice and of your own free will.

I (Veerle, from DIY Making Life Better) am no expert on any of the topics I write about, nor is it possible for me to continuously keep track of and affect changes in information displayed on other websites I’ve linked to on my blog. Although I try very hard to provide you with helpful, useful and inspiring information (including images and links), I am not giving any warranties nor take accountability for the accuracy, completeness, suitability and availability of any of the information you’ve received through my blog, including services, products, opinions and (related) graphics.

If you come across some information you think should be updated (because of changed contents, damaged or defective links or addresses), please contact me so I can correct it!

Finally, I reserve the rights to change any of the terms and conditions mentioned here, at any time I want J. So do make sure to double check from time to time: I tend to be impulsive when it comes to ideas and dreams.

2.   Copyright Policy

Copyright. I’m writing this down in capitals:

UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED AND WITH THE EXCEPTION OF COMMENTS AND INFORMATION ON WEBSITES THIS BLOG LINKS TO, ALL INFORMATION, OPINIONS, IMAGES AND PRODUCTS ON THIS BLOG ARE MINE. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE, REPRINT OR PUBLISH ANY OF THE CONTENTS OF MY BLOG ‘DIY MAKING LIFE BETTER’, NOR IN A SLIGHTLY MODIFIED FORM, WITHOUT MY WRITTEN CONSENT.

YOU ARE ALLOWED THOUGH, TO USE THE INFORMATION, GRAPHICS AND MY IDEAS FROM THIS BLOG FOR PERSONAL USE AND PERSONAL INSPIRATION ONLY. IF YOU DO WANT TO SHARE SOME OF THE INFORMATION OR GRAPHICS WITH OTHERS, YOU CAN DO SO BY LINKING BACK TO THIS BLOG. PROPERLY!

I DO NOT GIVE PERMISSION FOR ANY OF THE WRITTEN INFORMATION, IMAGES, PRODUCTS OR IDEAS ON THIS BLOG TO BE COMMERCIALLY USED (NOR IN A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT FORM) OR COPIED.

By the way, did you know that even though search engines display images like they are publicly available, it does not mean you can just publish these images! So, even though you’ve found the images from my blog via a search engine, they are still mine!

3.   Hold Harmless

Although I tend to think of myself as a helpful person and therefore strive to providing helpful and inspirational information to you, I am no expert on anything I write about and so the information on this blog, or implied by it, are for entertainment purposes only. Make sure to understand that I am not providing expert medical, legal, professional dental or handyman advice and that if you need expert advice you should consult and expert! Also, you can not hold me accountable for any direct, indirect or consequential damage as a result of the information on this blog. So, if you do use the information presented on this blog, make sure to understand ánd accept that it’s all at your own risk. If you don’t, please stop reading and close this website.

So, stated in an understandable way with an example; if you cut your hand while using a handsaw, because you’ve read on this blog that I’ve used a handsaw for some project and you want to try it yourself but something went wrong: it was your own choice to use a handsaw and it wasn’t my fault you cut your hand. Please, go and see a doctor! Also, if you’ve ruined your precious shirt by washing it with baking soda, I am very sorry you ruined your shirt but I did mention to try it in an invisible spot… you didn’t, did you ;)?

One last thing. Though I’m Dutch (like many of the readers of this blog), I try very hard to use English words and grammar in a proper way. However, it is possible that incorrect use of words, expressions or grammar may seem offensive or inappropriate to you, considering English is not my native language. In that case: please forgive me and let me know, so I can correct it.

4.   Privacy Statement

I will not sell or publish your personal/contact information to any other company or website. Nor will I use your personal information for spam lists. If you follow my blog, you will receive a notification message whenever I post something new, which you can undo anytime you want. Don’t worry, I can’t even see your contact information, it’s specifically secured by the host. Unless you send an email directly to DIYMLB at yahoo dot com, of course 😉

I am not to be held responsible for the privacy practices of any of the advertisers on this blog (which I don’t choose myself at the time being) nor any of the commenters.

5.   Reserve Rights

Plainly stated: this is my blog and I reserve the right to change it any way or any time I want. For example, I could change the look, title, terms of use, information and focus whenever I feel like it.

Oh, and one more thing. I reserve the right to edit or delete comments without notice, if I feel that they’re (possible) spam, offensive, violent, racist or in any other way inappropriate. Since I am Dutch, like most of my readers, I will approve of Dutch comments to an English post ;).

6.   Advertisers and Sponsors

I am not responsible for information or actions of any of the advertisers and sponsors you see on this blog, nor of the websites I’ve linked to. So: if you follow a link to a different website and consequential problems arise, make sure to resolve your issues with the right website owners, not with me.

7.   Letters to the Editor (that would be me 😉 )

If you send me an email or love letter, it will remain private unless I have your written consent to publish it. However, links to social media, other blogs or websites like pinterest, and comments may be used publicly unless you’ve specifically requested otherwise. Kind words and enthusiastic comments will be displayed immediately, though ;). With your name under it of course!

Thank you for taking the time to read my terms and conditions. I want to thank Nienke from the travel tester for her tips on writing a disclaimer 😉 Want to write your own disclaimer? Click here, like I did!
